TOPS spol. s ro has developed from a trading company to a manufacturer of self-adhesive labels in the Slovak Republic since 1991. Mainly forgery-proof security labels are produced, but multi-colored labels on a wide variety of materials as well as thermal transferlabels are also part of the portfolio. That made the investment in a new machine necessary.
The desire to modernize the machine park - since 2007, flexographic printing has been carried out on a Focus Proflex 250 that was acquired from Grafische Systeme GmbH and is equipped with five printing units - and the growing demand from customers for special products that cannot be realized with the existing machine , sparked the need for a new investment. The decision to purchase another machine from Focus was made quickly. The reliability of their technology and years of trusting cooperation with Grafische Systeme were important criteria for this, so that the final choice was a Focus eFlex 330 Se, which then started production in the middle of this year.
Demanding Control Technology
Compared to the Proflex, the eFlex has more sophisticated control technology. Each printing unit has two servomotors. Pressure and register position can be set simultaneously on all printing units without using up material. Auto-register is standard and ensures a consistently stable register even on a substrate without a carrier. TOPS uses high-quality materials, especially in the security label area, where every avoidable loss pays off immediately.
The new machine is equipped with eight printing units. The cassette system of the printing units with an open design allows the operator easy access, he can carry out color and job changes quickly and also outside the machine. In order to be able to cover the largest possible spectrum of substrates and applications, TOPS had both UV drying and IR drying installed in all printing units. For the same reason, the machine was equipped with an antistatic unit, corona treatment and web cleaning.
With the additional equipment of the eFlex 330 Se, not only the existing order structure played a role, but also the idea of which innovative products could be used to keep customers and win new ones, if one were able to manufacture them. Optical or technical high-end products with gloss effects or multilayers were previously not possible.
